Hexham u9’s 5 – Haltwhistle 0 22nd November 2008
Unfortunately both Joff and Lucas were unable to play due to heavy colds – get well soon! A fine performance today from our Hexham squad . Haltwhistle are a newly formed team and still finding their stride however they did play well. On a very chilly November morning, Hexham got the their fastest ever first goal ( if my memory serves me..)within the first 2 minutes with a pass from Elliot which David netted. This gave the boys confidence and Elliot followed soon after with a fine goal. We had numerous shots at goal from David, Elliot, George and Patrick. Louis and Max provided solid defence. Robbie and Will came on in second half for George and Patrick to get warmed up! Max moved to midfield position. The snow storm flurried around (see a few of Julies photos!) while our boys battled on, Elliot soon bagged his 2nd goal from a well placed cross from Max . David scored his second anfter another team attacking play. George came back on determined to score and was rewarded with a goal after another good assist from Max. As in the first half we had many more shots at goal including some close calls from George, David and Max. Everyone played well and contributed to the good team performance. Elliot got the oppositions MOTM, Jamie's team trophy went to Max.
The plan for winter training will be as follows. All players meet at Wentworth Leisure Centre reception area at 6.15pm (Apart from the 3 choir boys). The centre have asked us to remind everyone that no outdoor football boots are allowed to be worn inside. When all team gathered, we will go outside to floodlit pitch to be ready to start at 6.30pm (change into football boots once outside) The boys will need to wear layers of warm clothes. Easier to peel off a layer when warm, than be distracted all through session due to being too cold! Gloves, hats, long sleeved tops and trousers, training tops and waterproofs if needed. They must all wear shin pads and bring water bottles. We will be having a short team talk each week at the end of the session, so please come and collect the boys from the Jungle Jacks café area at about 7.35pm. For information, we will share the pitch for our training session with the boys U12’s squad, and the girls teams come on to train at 7.30pm.
