Four new Level One Coaches
Three more coaches have recently taken and passed the FA Level One coaching badge.
Clifford Graham, Colin Fairles and Martin Lowes all successfully completed the course. Ian Charlton unfortunately had to miss his final assessment due to being on duty for the u11 West Division Cup final. But he will be taking his assessment in late June. All the coaches took the course at Corbridge FC under the guidance of Mark Woodall from the Northumberland FA which involved all aspects of the game. From coaching to first aid and child protection. Also recently qualified is Jamie Mcnamee who took his course at Haydon Bridge High School. Jamie will be coaching next's years under 9 team
Well done to you all.
Joy for the u16 as they took the West Division Cup by beating Newburn in the Final 1-0 at Haydon Bridge. This team has now won the West Division Cup at eight different age groups. Lewis Loughhead got the all important goal for the u14's for their final at Stocksfield against Corbridge.Sorrow unfortunately for the u11 as they lost to Prudhoe YC 0-2 in another close encounter. Never mind Ian and the boys as you have the European campaign to look forward to at the end of the month. The under 13 lost at Corbridge 1-4 against Prudhoe YC Well done to all teams as you have all been a credit to the Club
Under 10 Presidents Cup Final
The under 10 lost in a close game with Corbridge Greens 1-2 at Wark Sports Ground. The team had plenty of possesion in the first half but could not convert this into goals. Congratulations to Corbridge and we look forward to meeting again next season

The Club are working with the Council to try and resolve the problem and will report as soon as possible. In the mean time it is very important that we continue with our fund raising efforts to raise our target figure of £20,000 by September this year.
FA Charter Standard
Some of our parents may not know what the Charter Standard is that we all hold so dear to our heart. This was born some years ago and it was created to raise the standards of all grass roots football. There are different levels of the award and currently we are on the Development Club stage. Only one better award to receive and that is the Community Club Award, this is in our development plan to be reached in 2012.
Chairman Terry Graham receiving the award from Mark Woodhall November 2005
We will be letting everyone know of our progress as time goes on. In the past few seasons this has become a major part of the scene in grassroots teams and from next season they require all the teams they have competing in their leagues must have achieved a Charter Standard award. This will make them one of the first Charter Standard Leagues in the country. A vital part of the award is that each team must have at least one coach who has achieved a FA Level One award, this involves 8 to 10 sessions with qualified trainers and coaches learning about all aspects of the game. Also in this course there is a basic first aid qualification and a Child Protection Course. As well as this every member is checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. So as you can see a lot of work is put into the Club by all its coaches and officials. at the moment we have four coaches nearing the end of the latest course and although it has been hard work it has been enjoyable
Many other coaches have the level Two award and some have even progressed to UEFA qualifications. There are other parts of the Charter Standard which we will explain at alater date. But if you have any question, we will try to answer at the drop in open night at the Wentwrth LC on May 6th
No such luck for some of our team's. The under 9 whites and the under 12's are travelling to Sheffield for the National Futsall competition in June. Before that the under 10 are spending a weekend in May at the Pontins 7 aside tournament in Blackpool. Please can the players make sure that the coaches don't spend all their time on the Big Dipper at the Pleasure Beach. On the 18 both our under 9 teams along with the girls under 10 will be taking part at a tourament at Corbridge for Charter Standard Clubs which will be sponsored by McDonalds. Word is that Geoff (It did cross the Line) Hurst will be making an appearance on the day. Unlike our North East professional teams Hexham FC will be competing in Europe. The under 11 have been fund raising to help with the cost of a trip to France. They will be playing four teams across the late May Bank Holliday and we wish all our sides a fantastic summer.
More news on all these trips coming soon.
Tynedale Under 9 Champions
Pictured above our under nine greens who this week won the Tynedale League. The title was secured on Wednesday night with a 5-0 victory against Wylam Rockets. The greens have had an excellent season with a terrific run in the West Division under 10 trophy going out at the semi final stage against Prudhoe Reds who themselves look like they will win the under 10 league. But this win will certinly ease the pain for that disappointment. Coach Jamie's hair looks a little wet, was it raining that night or had he received a celebration dunking, good luck to the team as they now look to follow this on next season with the under 10 crown in their sights
THANK YOU !
Thanks to everyone who donated the Tesco vouchers, this week we have received

The Three Lions is an F.A initiative where disability and girls football is promoted in the comunity. We are involved in this by promoting under 10's girls by means of two of our coaches going to the schools and delivering sessions to the girls.
Broomhaugh First School
Hexham East First
We hope to involve the Sele First School and Northumberland Sport have been in touch but nothing has been confirmed as yet. Jo Herbitson has been working at Broomhaugh and Terry Graham will be starting at Hexham East at the end of April. The course lasts for four weeks and the girls get an introduction to the game and of course Hexham FC. They also receive a certificate from Northumberland sport. We will be having a under 10 squad for next season and very soon we hope to be able to give contact details for this team.
Next season the Club will be running four teams for the girls at under 10,12,14,16 this will be a real step forward for the Club and congratulation must go to Tony,Ranald,Jo and Sandra who have worked very hard with the girls and the strength in depth will really shine through. The performance from this teams are proof of their efforts
Aidan Harbottle (Under 13 Whites) managed to hit the magical 200 goal mark for the club recentley. In a 10 goal thriller v Wallsend Town, Aidan scored all five goals for Hexham taking his tally since his under 9 day's to 203 !

Hexham Hearts
Reported in this week’s Hexham Courant 25 Jan 2008 in the Looking Back section.
Last Rites
A meeting was scheduled to take place to confirm the extinction of Hexham Hearts Football Club. A Three month battle to find new committee members and new funds was in vain.
Our illustrious predecessors had a fantastic run of success in the years after the war. The Won the Northern Alliance Championship in the first season after the war 1947/48 but failed to complete the double that year losing in the cup final v Ashington. The Hearts were runners up in the Challenge Cup final not long after that in 1949/50 when Cramlington Welfare were our conquerors. But the cup did not evade the Hearts for much longer as 1951/52 they brought the Cup to the town after beating Newburn in the final , we think the final was played at St James Park , Newcastle.
Going further back a Hexham Town won the Northern Alliance in 19365/36, any links with the Hearts is unknown. An body with any information or pictures on any of our predecessors the Club would be grateful as we hope to have a section on our site soon with the history of football in the Town

Tynedale Council commissioned a report on the condition of the Wentworth football pitch from an agronomist from the Sports Turf Research Institute, following the appearance of a series of holes in the pitch in the autumn. The pitch is maintained by Tynedale Council for Leisure Tynedale which manages the leisure centre and outdoor sports facilities. The report suggests that the holes are probably as expected due to the reduction in ground water level around the pool, and should stop now that this work has been completed. The report has concluded that the pitch needs more maintenance due to the level of use being made of it, including drainage and feeding, and also advises that play on the pitch should be limited to allow the grass to recover.A spokesperson for Tynedale Council and Leisure Tynedale said: “Many local children and adults, including Hexham Football Club’s junior and senior teams, derive an enormous amount of benefit from play and exercise on the pitch. “We will now work together to implement the recommendations over the next season with the users to ensure that we can re-invigorate the pitch and also give it the necessary rest to recover. Our aim, as always, is to provide a quality service to the users of our sports facilities. The Wentworth football pitch will be complemented in 2009/10 by a new facility for Hexham juniors at Dukeshouse Wood.”

Under 8 team huddle
The Club have been having meetings over the past few months with Tyndale Council, Leisure Tynedale and Crawford Higgins Associates regarding the proposed new development at Dukeshouse Wood. These discussions have now reached a stage where we can now submit plans for approval to the planners. A planning decision is expected by late January 2008. The Football Club have been involved with the project design from the start and it looks like something we can all be proud of and be able to welcome visiting teams to the town, something which we have been unable to do in the past
As plans are being processed we will continue to push forward the project and along with the Council and Leisure Tynedale to look for possible backers who will help us bridge a gap in funding. There will be a meeting of the Council’s Corporate Policy and Management Board hopefully in November 07 to discuss how much extra funding they will be able to help the project with. This means the Club will continue to raise funds over the coming year via a mixture of our own events and through seeking out external sources of funding.
The next major fundraiser will be the band night at the Auction Mart Function suite when Final Collection will again be appearing. If it is as successful as last time it should be a great success.
Also in 2008 some of the senior team and other age group coaches and friends will be taking to their cycles and completing the Coast to Coast with the hope of attracting sponsors. This will be a shared event with half the amount raised going to the” Butterfly “Charity. This charity is a support group for people who are or have been sufferers of Thyroid Cancer. This group is a local charity who has grown to become well respected throughout the country for their excellent work in this little known illness.
From Monday 10th September the club has a direct new email address. Please use this address to report scores/queries/website updates or news that would be of interest to the Club's ever growing website viewers.
This can also be used in strict confidence to report any child protection issues which any club member would like investigating. This will be dealt with the Club's management committee and if required the Northumberland FA and relevant authorities. This we feel is an important step forward as a Charter Standard Club. Remember at all times you can bring any issue to the attention of your coach.

To clear up any query regarding the size of goals we should be using. We have contacted the NABC & NFA, & according to them.Under 11 to 14 should have 21 x 7 ft post,s . 15's and above can use full size post's (8 x 24). These are recommendations only. A "post" has been place on the NABC forum to explain.
